Conference Venue

The Conference is being held at the located at Charles Perkins Centre, the University of Sydney (CPC), which is located at John Hopkins Dr, Camperdown NSW 2050

The Concierge Desk at your hotel will assist you with directions and transport options if necessary. The closest bus stop is University of Sydney Ross St Gate or St John’s College, Missenden Rd, from where you should walk 5 mins or 3 mins respectively to the Charles Perkins Centre.

Registration Process

The registration desk will be located in the Charles Perkins Centre D17-L01. All participants must visit the registration desk to collect their Conference materials and name badge before gaining access to the Conference. The Conference will begin promptly at 8.30am on Wednesday, 27 September. All delegates are requested to be seated in Main Auditorium by 8.20am.

We encourage you to register as early as possible to allow for easy access to the Conference Opening.

Friday                29 September 2023                       0830-1200 hours

If on arrival at the Conference you have not paid for your registration, you will be directed to the cashier to make payment. All outstanding accounts must be settled upon registering for the conference. Please arrive early to avoid any delays.

Airport Transfers and Public Transport

Airport

Sydney is only 10 kilometres from the airport. Travel to the city will take around 20 minutes to drive (depending on traffic) or 20 minutes by train.

Train

The airport train station is located inside the Domestic and International terminals and will take you directly to and from the Sydney City Centre.

Fares from Sydney Airport terminals to the city are approximately A$17.00 per adult for a single journey.

Airport train line: T2 Airport line (which is Macarthur to City via Airport or Sydenham line).

On weekdays there are approximately six to eight train services every hour from 0600 until 2200, and then four per hour until the last train.

Uber

An Uber is approximately A$35.00 from the Airport to Sydney city. Please note your pickup location depends on your terminal and ride option.

Follow the below steps if you would like to utilise an Uber service:

  • Download Uber on your mobile device. Simply search ‘Uber’ and install the app.
  • Create an account and add in your details.
  • Request when you’re ready to walk outside – choose a ride option that suits your group size and luggage storage needs, and enter your pick up location in the app.
  • Exit the terminal – the pickup location will depend on the type of vehicle you select. Please refer to the instructions below to find out where to meet your driver.
  • Look for your driver – if you can’t find your driver, contact him or her through the app.

At the Domestic Airport Terminal, head to the priority pickup zone for your uberX ride. (Follow the green signs through the car park to the public pickup area. This is the priority pickup zone.) For all other ride options at the domestic terminal, head outside to the general passenger pickup area and wait curb-side.

At the International Airport Terminal, meet your uberX driver at the express pickup zone. (Follow the yellow signs from Car Park 7 to the Express pickup area.) For all other ride options, head to the limousine pickup area.

Parking at the Venue

Parking is not available at the Charles Perkins Centre or The University of Sydney.  

Hence, we strongly encourage you to use public transport to the venue.

Electricity

Electrical current is 240/250V, AC 50Hz. The Australian three-pin power outlet is different from that in many countries, so you will need an adaptor. If your appliances are 110V, check if there is a 110/240V switch. If not, you will need a voltage converter. Universal outlets for 240V or 110V shavers are usually found in leading hotels.

Customs

Delegates carrying commercial goods or samples may need to obtain permits for their goods depending on the nature of the goods, regardless of value. Quarantine and wildlife regulations and other restrictions may also apply to certain goods. All travelers must declare amounts of $10,000 or more in foreign or Australian currency (notes and coins) you take into or out of Australia. For more information visit www.customs.gov.au.

Currency

The currency of Australia is the Australian Dollar. All prices quoted in the brochure are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST. To check the current exchange rate visit www.xe.com.

Climate

September is spring in Sydney and the average temperature ranges from 12 to 22 degrees celsius. It is recommended that delegates bring a jacket for the evenings and pack for warmer days.

Language

The official and most widely spoken language in Australia is English, and is also the official language for the Conference.
